Tips for New Year's Eve in Brazil

 Safety

Pickpockets aside, Brazil's New Year's Eve celebration is a generally peaceful event, with heavy police reinforcements to patrol the festivities. However, it is important to be careful, since these celebrations usually bring together a large number of people in one place. Be aware of your surroundings, be careful with your phone or valuables, and stay away from fights that may occur. Set up a meeting point with your friends in case you get lost and always seek help if needed.

Transportation

Traffic is always a big problem in the big cities of Brazil, especially during the New Year celebrations. Try to use public transportation as often as you can. In Rio de Janeiro, use the metro system. But keep in mind that this will also be very crowded. Be patient! If possible, leave the party a little earlier or stay a little later to avoid peak hours.

Parties

As important as choosing your destination for New Years is choosing the party you are going to. Some people just rent a nice house with friends and throw their own parties. However, the end of the year parties in Brazil are the best! Yes, they are expensive, it must be said. But if you have some money to burn, it's worth every penny. With an open bar and open food, these parties offer you exclusive service, amazing live concerts, beautiful venues and sometimes incredible views of the fireworks.
